Capabilities
We cover all aspects of Access database maintenance. We will
configure new hardware, maintain user accounts, implement design enhancements
and bug-fixes, import and export data and create ad-hoc queries and reports. If
you wish to bring part of the administration role in-house we will help you
define processes and train staff.
- Front-end installation and update
- We can perform manual installation of new or updated
client PC front-end databases and shortcuts on the start menu or
desktop. We will usually perform this remotely across the network to
minimize disruption.
- User accounts
- For secure databases we can either administer user
accounts directly or train your in-house administrator to do it
themselves. The process can be simplified by incorporating our
standard account and password management forms into your database.
- Performance analysis and optimization
- You may find your database slows down drastically as
it fills with data. Reports which took a couple of seconds to print
originally may start to take a minute or longer! Using advanced visual
basic and query techniques we can combat these problems and recoup
lost performance.
- Data integrity and bug-fixing
- If you suspect that data is being lost or altered, or
that certain functions do not always perform reliably, we will analyze
and correct the problems. In extreme cases where the underlying design
is flawed this may involve major redesign. More often a few minor
design changes will do the job.
- Disaster recovery and backups
- We will help you set up backup and recovery
procedures to avoid, or minimize, loss of data or application. You
probably already have backup procedures in place, but it is surprising
how often this is not the case!
- Creation of a Setup.exe installation set
- We can prepare a single compressed Setup.exe
installation CD which will automatically load the front-end on to a
client PC, register it and create a shortcut on the Start menu. It can
even include the Access runtime component if you need to install the
database on a PC without Access.
- Access version support
- We support all versions of Access. We can advise
you on the advantages and disadvantages of upgrading and, when the
time is right, perform the conversion for you.
